Northeast Ko Phangan
The Northeast coast has secluded beaches with a backdrop of raw jungle and seasonal waterfalls. This area is popular with families and travellers looking for quietness and total relaxation. The swimming here is excellent and there are some very good restaurants as well as little beach bars with a relaxed vibe. Accommodation ranges from low budget to the top three most luxury resorts on Koh Phangan.
Villages
Thong Nai Pan Noi and Thong Nai Pan Yai form a double bay surrounded by jungle and are the most popular beaches of the Northeast area. Both bays have a gently sloping beach surrounded by swaying palms. We recommend taking a taxi, which will take about 40 minutes to get there. Thong Nai Pan is known for its chilled out atmosphere and seclusion from the crowds.
Haad Khuat, better known as Bottle Beach on Koh Phangan, is due to its perfect talcum sand by some considered as the most beautiful beach of Koh Phangan. The best way to get there is by longtail boat from Chaloklum. This beach is perfect for people who want to get away from it all. Be wary of the weather, as the boats can only travel in good weather.
Haad Than Sadet (or Had Than Sadej) is a quite isolated small bay away from the party scene with only very basic accommodation. Because the sea gets deep reasonably quick, it has good swimming. Than Sadet has a royal touch, since its waterfall is visited by several Thai Kings in the past.
