NORTHEAST
AREA The Northeast coast has secluded beaches with a backdrop of raw jungle and seasonal waterfalls. The sea conditions change as you move further towards the East coast. There is no coral reef which makes the swimming better and therefore this area is popular with visitors who want to swim, but don’t mind missing out on the coral. Show me recommended resorts, hotels and bungalows in the Northeast of Koh Phangan VILLAGES Thong Nai Pan Noi and Thong Nai Pan Yai form a double bay surrounded by jungle and are the most popular beaches of the Northeast area. Both bays have a gently sloping beach surrounded by swaying palms. We recommend taking a taxi, which will take about 40 minutes to get there. Thong Nai Pan is known for its chilled out atmosphere and seclusion from the crowds.
Haad Khuat, better known as Bottle Beach, is due to its perfect talcum sand by some considered as the most beautiful beach of Koh Phangan. The best way to get there is by longtailboat from Chaloklum. This beach is perfect for people who want to get away from it all. Be wary of the weather, as the boats can only travel in good weather.
Haad Than Sadet is a quite isolated small bay away from the party scene with only very basic accommodation. Because the sea gets deep reasonably quick, it has good swimming. Than Sadet has a royal touch, since its waterfall is visited by several Thai Kings in the past. NIGHTLIFE Thong Nai Pan Noi has a small village with some restaurants and bars and the occasional beach party. Nice bars are the Jungle Bar, the I Sea Bar, Flip-Flop Pharmacy (bar on the beach with monthly parties) and the Hideaway Bar. Thong Nai Pan Yai is the longer one of the two beaches and is more quiet than its counterpart. Going to the Full Moon Party while staying in this area is not a problem since there are many taxis and boats going to and from Haad Rin on that particular night.
